Can
SpyBot be wrong about DAP? |
We are happy to inform that Spybot has begun to
correct (in version 1.4) some of the outdated/inaccurate
information about DAP. |
1) SpyBot has stopped detecting the non-existing
registry elements it wrongly associated with DAP
(see C below)
2) As a result SpyBot has ceased attempting to remove
those non-existing registry elements and thus no
longer insinuates that DAP can not be removed (see
D below)
We would like to hope that Spybot will shortly correct
the rest of its information and cease to detect DAP.
We want to thank all of our users who continue to
trust DAP, and support us. We believe that with your
support we can resolve this matter even sooner, if
you wish to make a difference we invite you to write
to SpyBot and let them know that solving this situation
is important to you.

| DAP status on SpyBot |
It appears that SpyBot currently warns its users
of DAP. After looking into this matter we believe that
SpyBot is basing its warning on a wrong and/or outdated
description of DAP.
We have been communicating, on and off, for quiet some
time with Spybot, in an attempt to try and resolve this
misunderstanding. So far we have made some progress towards
that end, though unfortunately this matter is not over
yet.
We hope this matter will be resolved shortly, and
we apologize for the inconvenience. We believe that with
your help this may happen sooner:
By writing
to SpyBot and saying that solving this situation
is important to you, you may be able to make
a difference and help resolve this matter sooner.
Let your voice be heard. Thanks for your support!

I feel because speedbit clearly revealed the Ads included
in your program BEFORE I chose to download, there was nothing
underhanded or hidden...

| SpyBot
detection of DAP - the facts! |
SpyBot claims that there is no link
on DAP website to the privacy policy. (see A below) |
Wrong! |
SpyBot: "I couldn't find a link on their webpage
that is pointing to the privacy statement"
Speedbit: For several months already, there is a very
clear link to DAP's privacy policy, at the bottom of
DAP homepage
SpyBot
is referring to an outdated privacy policy. (see B below) |
Wrong! |
SpyBot: "See the privacy policy"
Speedbit: Quotes are from an outdated privacy policy
that was changed back in 2003, SpeedBit has been
continually conservative regarding user privacy.
SpyBot
is detecting some non-existing registry elements and
associate them with DAP. (see C below) |
Wrong! |
SpyBot: Detects some registry keys as problematic
SpeedBit: Some of the registry keys identified as "problem" actually
DO NOT exist anywhere on the user's computer.
Since these keys are similar to ones registered by
DAP, we assume this is an innocent mistake, but it creates
a situation where if the user wants to remove these
keys or "fix the problem" SpyBot(tm) cannot remove
them,
simply because they do not exist! |
SpyBot
attempts & fails to remove
the non existing elements and thus insinuated that DAP
can not be removed. (see D below) |
Wrong! |
SpyBot: "Some problems couldn't' be fixed; the
reason could be that the associated files are still in
use (in
memory)." |
SpeedBit: SpyBot can not remove the registry keys that
are claimed to be associated to DAP ("couldn't' be
fixed")
simply because they do not exist! |
More importantly, DAP comes with a built-in uninstall utility
to allow a user to completely uninstall DAP should he wishes
to do so. no intervention is required by any outside application
(i.e. SpyBot) in order to remove DAP. |
