What is the DAP 10 Beta?
DAP 10 Beta is a testing version of the application that allows users to take an early look at its technology, and to explore the capabilities of the new platform. The beta version should be installed by users who are prepared to test its features and stability, as it may contain bugs and other problems.
What's new in DAP 10?
DAP 10 consists of the core DAP download acceleration engine, streamlined and optimized for powerful efficiency and ease of use. On top of the core downloader, DAP 10 features a new add-on system that allows its capabilities to be expanded with additional features.

In addition, DAP 10 is packed with a unique Link Checker feature that ensures you know when a download link is valid. Link Checker will give you all the information about the file you want to download, before you download it!

Next to any download link, whether it is a direct download or from a hosting site like fileflyer.com, hotfile.com, fileserve.com, Rapidshare.com, etc... you will see an icon (Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) Link Checker tatus icon) indicating the status of the download. What is the DAP 10 Add-on System?


DAP 10 add-on system lets users customize DAP with exactly the features they want. Users can find new add-ons through the built-in system and install them on their version of DAP. Add-ons will be created both by SPEEDbit and by independent developers. The add-ons will enable all kinds of new functionality for DAP and will allow for a high level of customization.

DAP 10 comes preloaded with three add-ons. More add-ons will become available as the program develops.

How can I find new Add-ons?
You can find new add-ons through the built-in add-on system in DAP 10. The add-on system can be accessed through the add-on button in DAP's main toolbar. Available add-ons are presented and can be installed from the Add-ons menu.
Installing Add-ons
DAP 10 contains a built-in add-on system that lets you install additional features quickly and easily.
To install add-ons:
  1. Right-click the DAP 10 Beta icon in the Windows system tray, and then click the Open DAP downloads manager option. The DAP main window appears.
  2. Click the Get Add-ons button in the toolbar at the top of the window. You can also click the Tools menu bar item, and then click the Manage Add-ons option. The Manage Add-ons dialog box appears.
  3. Click the Get Add-ons button at the top of the dialog box. Click the Install button next to the add-on you wish to install from the list.
  4. Click the Restart DAP button to complete the installation. DAP restarts and the add-on you selected is installed.


Viewing Installed Add-ons
The Add-ons you have installed are displayed in the Manage Add-ons dialog box.
To view enabled add-ons:
  1. Right-click the DAP 10 Beta icon in the Windows system tray, and then click the Open DAP downloads manager option. The DAP main window appears.
  2. Click the Add-ons button in the toolbar at the top of the window. You can also click the Tools menu bar item, and then click the Add-ons option.
    The Manage Add-ons dialog box appears.
  3. Click the Installed Add-ons button at the top of the dialog box.
    From here you can see which add-ons are installed and enabled.
Disabling and Uninstalling Add-ons
You can disable add-ons so that they no longer function, or you can completely remove add-ons from your computer.
To disable or remove add-ons:
  1. Right-click the DAP 10 Beta icon in the Windows system tray, and then click the Open DAP downloads manager option.
    The DAP main window appears.
  2. Click the Get Add-ons button in the toolbar at the top of the window. You can also click the Tools menu bar item, and then click the Manage Add-ons option.

  3. Click the Installed Add-ons button at the top of the dialog box.
  4. Click the Disable button next to the add-on you wish to turn off but leave installed on your computer. Click Remove to completely remove the add-on and all its files from your computer.
Why are certain features missing in DAP 10?
DAP 10 is a streamlined version of DAP. The main download accelerator core functions in the same way, providing the fastest possible download speed. However, the user interface has been optimized and some features are no longer present.
In the future, many more features will become available as new add-ons are created that allow for new functions.
Setting a Different Version of DAP as Your Default Download Manager

When you install DAP 10 Beta, it becomes your default download manager. However, it does not overwrite any older versions of DAP on your computer.
This means that you can easily switch between DAP 10 and other installed versions of DAP.

To switch to a different version of DAP:
  1. Right-click the Download Accelerator Plus icon in the Windows system tray, and then click the Open DAP downloads manager option.
    The DAP main window appears.

    Note: There may be two DAP icons in your system tray. Right-click the icon without a blue background and that is labeled Download Accelerator Plus when you hover your cursor over it.
  2. Click the Tools menu bar item, and then click Options.
    DAP's Options window appears.
  3. Select Advanced to display the Advanced options.
  4. Clear, and then select the checkboxes of the browser/s you want to use with the earlier version of DAP.
  5. Dialog boxes appear informing you of the changes you have made. Click OK on each dialog box.
  6. Restart the browser/s you wish to use with the earlier version of DAP.

Reinstall a Different Version of DAP
An additional option to set a different version of DAP as your default download manager is to reinstall that version of the application. This will cause the newly installed version to become your default download manager.

Uninstalling DAP 10 Beta and Switching to a Different Version of DAP
You may wish to completely uninstall DAP 10 Beta from your computer.
To uninstall DAP 10 Beta and switch to a different version of DAP:
  1. Navigate to the Windows Start menu, and then click Control Panel. Choose Uninstall a Program (Windows 7) or Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP). Select DAP 10 Beta from the list, and then click Uninstall/Change (Windows 7) or Remove (Windows XP).
  2. Follow the on screen instructions and complete the uninstall process.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Navigate to the Windows Start menu, and then to the Programs folder. Select the Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) application folder, and then click Download Accelerator Plus
  5. The Default download manager check dialog box appears prompting you to set Download Accelerator Plus as your default download manager. Click Yes.
  6. A dialog box appears stating that your browser needs to be restarted in order to finish browser integration. Click OK.
    The version of DAP you selected is now set as your default download manager.
